Tefal Cook4me Touch - is it worth it?

The Tefal Cook4me Touch smart cooker has lots of interesting features and can be controlled via an app for smartphones and tablets. Can it replace traditional cookware? How does it cook in it? Time to find out!

We live in a smart world – a large proportion of Poles have a smartphone, a smartwatch, a TV with loads of apps and a PC, tablet or laptop. Modern technology is also increasingly finding its way into household appliances. Moving with the times, Tefal has decided to show that the old way of cooking – in a metal pot on a hob – is already passe by introducing the next generation of Cook4me cooking appliances.

Appliance features and functions

The Tefal Cook4me has a huge bowl with a capacity of 6 litres – according to the recipes, it is even suitable for preparing dinner for six people.

The power of the appliance is 1,600 watts, and it generates up to 100 kPa when cooking under pressure – these are really serious numbers, so it’s no surprise that it has a leak-proof seal from the top, a safety valve and a special safety procedure after cooking is complete.

For a separate kitchen appliance, the Cook4me takes up little space – it is 37 cm high, 33 cm wide and 35 cm deep. Of course, the height with the casserole lid increases slightly. The functions are up to 12:

strong steam,
gentle steam,
medium frying,
gentle frying,
strong braising,
very high pressure cooking,
high pressure cooking,
low pressure cooking,
keeping warm,
gentle braising,
frying,
braising.

In addition, an extension of the Cook4me function is the 1300W Tefal Extra Crisp casserole lid, which adds fat-free frying, roasting, grilling, frying and baking functions. It has its own controller, timer and function selection, and requires a separate power supply (you must have two free contacts within a metre of both appliances).

Is it worth it?

Single-course dinners are most convenient, but baked goods, cakes or desserts can also be prepared without any problems. Control is trivial – especially from the app. Once you have selected a recipe that is not in the appliance, you can simply send it in at the touch of a button and start cooking.

The additional Extra Crisp casserole lid takes on the role of a fat-free fryer and can also grill and fry – with two such appliances, the hob goes into the background.
